For the third assignment, I pulled data from Institutional Research at Texas State University. I focused on the master’s level in the following areas:
- degrees award
- enrollment
- number of programs
- Texas region
I used the various charts we learned to display the data. I particularly like the line chart as it can show how things are changing over time. However, I was determined to use the scatter plot and did so with the Texas region data. The small to big dots can show the relationship with the numbers enrolled to the different areas and as you will see, Central Texas trumps them all! For this project, I will determine what factors are at play to change some of the data over time including adding or discontinuing programs, the importance of Spring commencement and the appeal of Texas State’s location when making a decision to pursue graduate studies.
