For my final project, I’d like to continue my research with the crime in Austin during SXSW. For more comparison on the subject, I’d like to also compare and contrast the data with the other major music event in Austin, ACL.
For the comparison, I’d be using graphs and charts to show which festival possibly had more crime. I’d also like to zero in on the highest crime during these festivals. I would also like to use a pin point map rather than heat maps to show where the locations of the crimes took place.
The interaction piece of the web site, Since most music goers go to venues and park their cars in certain areas during this time, I’d like to gather a list of the music venues that are more prevalent and busy and maybe get a list and if they have had any crimes during these times.
Maybe create a drop down list that allows the user to choose which venue they would like to check out or parking area, I like the idea of using the News app to maybe place all the venue locations on a map with the links in detail pages as well as the crimes that took place.
The interview part of the website, I’d really love to be able to interview someone from APD who has worked during these festivals. Maybe have them explain what crimes they feel are reported more and even maybe have them give some tips on what someone who is gong to these festivals should do in order to prevent crimes.
