So, for my final project, I would like to attempt to look at Texas bands and artists by genre and use a Twitter API to pull out their most frequently used hashtags.
The questions I’m looking to answer is does genre impact hashtag usage? I want to eliminate the hashtag of the genre that they are (i.e. #blues, #rock, etc.) since those are a given. It would be interesting to see which hashtags are common among a certain genre and which are universal among genres.
To make this into an infographic, I would love to do what BitRebel refers to as a “Number Porn” infographic with lots of impressive large numbers and a strong design element. There would be a drop down menu that allowed you to change the genre of music and each infographic would have it’s own unique design element related to the genre of music it represented.
The information would be gathered from the Texas music database mentioned at the beginning of the semester and a Twitter API.
