SXSW brings a plethora of bands from obscurity to stardom. Among these bands is Chvrches who got their start at the festival and have continued their wave of success passing through every major event. For this project I wanted to measure the weight of Austin in a band’s success later on. Whether if a band with roots in Austin will have a continuos conversation regarding them.
Global Chvrches Tweets w/pins and their coordinates.
The first map determines the conversation regarding Chvrches through the world. Though the band is Scottish,much of their conversation is in the United States. With the allotted time frame that the Twitter API gives we can determine their popularity in Europe as well. The map below gives us a more concrete view of where most of their tweets come from. Though none came from Austin in this time frame , many were focused in Texas’ surrounding area. Chvrches Circle map 
Unfortunately the Twitter API will not allow us to go farther to determine the conversation regarding Chvrches during SXSW.
