Charting Hip Hop

For this project I used the Echo Nest Api to find data on the top 100 artists in the Hip Hop genre. I wanted to see what regions of the country have the most artists and where the biggest concentrations of artists are at.

I used google fusion tables to arrange this data into a spreadsheet and then created a map of geocoded points representing each artists origin. From this data I calculated which states had the most and charted it using chart.js. It was not surprising to see that New York and California are the dominant regions in hip hop.
