Just from the last two class meetings, I can tell this is going to be an awesome class!
My name is Harrison Holt and I am currently in my junior year at Texas State University. I am obtaining my degree in Mass Communication Public Relations while minoring in Business Administration. I am looking forward to this course because we are not only going to be learning how to communicate in better technological ways, but also incorporating the music industry. I plan on becoming an A&R Representative for a major record label. This course will give me the opportunity to gain more knowledge about the music industry in a new, promising perspective, as well as increasing my computer and coding skills.
After asking around and reading Jesse’s post, I’ve come up with a few ideas as well:
- Sort of going off one of Jesse’s third idea, we could try to come up with something that correlates the venue with the artists. Like which artists bring the most income/revenue/hype/etc. to certain venues.
- And since we are trying to better our story telling skills, a possible story can be made about the process of booking a gig in Austin. How determined are artist to play in this area at a certain venue? Is that venue reaching out to specific artists? If they are, why? There are many different questions that can asked about this.
Those are just some of my draft ideas. I really like Jesse’s second idea too about figuring out which bands are being talked about the most and creating that data chart would be pretty neat to do and see the outcome. I can’t wait to hear everyone else’s thoughts and ideas! Till then, have a great Labor Day weekend!
