I would just like to start off by saying that I have had nightmares, I mean dreams, about this project, so even in my sleep I am thinking about coding. In my dreams I actually changed my topic but I’m going to stick with my original idea and stick with the topic of adopting rescue animals.
My first page of the website is going to be where most of the writing and charts/graphs will be placed. This is going to give broad information about animal shelters, rescue shelters vs kill shelters, and statistic like information to tell the story. If I do any interviews they will also be on this page. The interviews will be conducted with people who have rescue animals, and if I can get an interview with any volunteers who work at shelters.
The second page will be where my main js. information will be located. I haven’t really decided how to go about it. Looking at other examples in class it is usually a list and then it is interactive but clicking on the name and gives more information. I am thinking about listing local shelters and when the cursor hovers, or clicks, on the shelter name it gives information of how big it is, hours of operations, how many pets find their forever home on a monthly or yearly basis and possibly how many animals are rescued from kill shelters because of that specific rescue shelter.
This topic is near and dear to my heart because every dog that I have had, whether it is mine or my families, has been a rescue animal. They deserve a second chance and a forever home just as much as the animals that pure breds sold for expensive prices. I’m hoping this project can shed a little bit of light on the subject and help pets find their forever home.
