So originally I was going to do my final project on Colorado Ski Resorts/Mountains but I had just gotten back from Euphoria camping and music festival in Austin and was kind of in a music festival daze for the days following. I realized my Ski project didn’t have much data to work with in creating a compelling story. With Coachella happening right after Euphoria I realized this would be a great and relevant topic, and one that is of interest to me. Basically, my project is “Coachella: Then and Now” where I compare all the years since 1999 when the festival started. I have found out so much that I never knew before about Coachella and I am so excited to present it in a fun way. One of the interactions I have is a year comparison in genres and the artists that attended. You select a genre from the drop down and it generates how many artists are from that genre from every year starting at 1999 to 2016. It’s amazing seeing how much the dance/EDM scene has evolved since 1999 and you can see that by the charts if you select that genre. Another thing I have is how pricing of tickets has evolved since the beginning, and attendance. I have found data in many various places, from Wikipedia, to Billboard.com, to the Coachella website. A friend of mine has sent someone my way to interview that had just went to Coachella last weekend so I’m very interested in hearing what she has to say about her experience! CHECK OUT MY PROJECT
