The data I have comes from Nielsen SoundScan – an information system, which tracks sales of music and music video products throughout the United States and Canada. This report, “Listen Up: Music and The Multicultural Consumer,” is an analyses on the behavior of African-American, Asian-American and Hispanic music consumers.
This report offers information on how multicultural consumers are driving change in the music industry.
It contains insight on music-related spending patterns, analyses on the ways multicultural consumers access music, details of their musical preferences, and findings on using music for branding purposes.
According to this report, multicultural consumers are at the forefront of major music trends, both in terms of taste and behavior.
What have you done on the project?
I have gotten the data that measures people from different multicultural backgrounds and how they access music/ what trends do they see in music.
What do I need to do?
I need to work on creating an interactive graph, which can explain the data in an easy and visual way. Right now, I have this data, but I want to present in a way, which is easy for a viewer to understand.
What do I need to do, what is standing in my way?
I’m playing with different ways to tell the data in an interactive way, without misrepresenting the data. What is standing in my way is presenting the data in a simple way for viewers to understand.
