Hey everyone my name is Travis Atkinson. I am a senior, double majoring in English and Mass Comm-Journalism with minors in Political Science and History. I am from the tiny town of Falls City, Texas which I’m sure most of you have never heard of.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, music, movies and video games. My favorite books include Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings.
I love music and am a big hip hop/rap fan, especially the Houston music scene. Some of my favorite artists include Z-Ro, Tupac, UGK, OutKast, and Devin the Dude among many others.
In regards to music and data I’m interested in seeing the popularity of certain genres/artists in and around the Austin area. For my project I’m thinking about surveying students on campus about their favorite types of music and how often they go to shows. It would be interesting to see how these statistics break down into different categories: age, sex, classification, etc.
